Diamond Grading Chart

1: COLOR

Diamond color is rated on a scale from D (colorless) to Z (light yellow or brown). Colorless diamonds are rare and most valuable.


2: CUT

The quality of a diamond's cut maximizes a diamond's clarity, color for its size. A well-cut diamond maximizes light to create brilliance and brings out its nature fire. There are 9 types of cuts:









3: CLARITY

Depends on internal ("inclusions") and external ("blemishes") flaws in the diamond. The fewer the flaws, the more rare the diamond. The more rare the diamond, the greater its value.


4: CARAT WEIGHT

A metric weight unit for weighing precious stones, particularly diamonds.
